National Debates: Return from Duty – the road to recovery

Thu 30 March, 5.45pm
Running Time: 1 hour approximately

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation ensuring that those who serve and have served, and their families, are treated fairly.

What should society’s responsibility to returning soldiers be, should they expect both medical and practical support, and for how long? And what are the challenges experienced for serving personnel or veterans on the road to recovery?

A panel discuss the issues, relating to the production of Ugly Lies the Bone.

Speakers include Professor Sir Simon Wessely (Co-Director, King's Centre for Military Health Research; President, Royal College of Psychiatrists; and Trustee, Combat Stress), Sara Baade (CEO, Army Families Federation), Lt Gen Sir Andrew Gregory (Chief Executive, SSAFA) and Helen Helliwell (Head of Service Personnel Support, Ministry of Defence). Chaired by Genista McIntosh.
