Join the director and writer as they reflect on their production of Hadestown.

Rachel Chavkin is a director, dramaturg and sometime writer, and the founding Artistic Director of the TEAM (teamplays.org), whose musical Mission Drift played the Shed at the NT in 2013. Other theatre includes: Dave Malloy’s Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 (Broadway, Ars Nova, A.R.T.), Caryl Churchill's Light Shining in Buckinghamshire (New York Theatre Workshop), Marco Ramirez’s The Royale (Old Globe, Lincoln Center), Bess Wohl’s Small Mouth Sounds (Ars Nova, Off-Broadway, national tour), and multiple collaborations with Taylor Mac including The Lily's Revenge, Act 2 (HERE). In addition to a Tony-nomination for her direction on Great Comet, Chavkin is a recipient of 3 Obie Awards, a Drama Desk Award, multiple Lortel nominations, two Doris Duke Impact Award nominations, and the 2017 Smithsonian Award for Ingenuity along with composer Dave Malloy.

Anaïs Mitchell is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Mitchell has released six albums including Hadestown (2010), Young Man in America (2012) and Child Ballads (2013). Mitchell is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner, and has toured with Bon Iver, Punch Brothers and Patty Griffin, as well as headlining her own shows worldwide.
