Dick Whittington

by Jude Christian and Cariad Lloyd

From 11 December to 23 January
Running Time: tbc

Dick Whittington

Join Dick Whittington and friends on an adventure to save the true spirit of London as pantomime comes to the National Theatre for one year only.

In a newly transformed Olivier theatre, Ned Bennett directs this wild new version of the classic tale which has been freshly updated for 2020 by Jude Christian and Cariad Lloyd.

This hilarious and heartfelt panto is packed with the cheekiest of jokes, the chattiest of animals, the awesomest of songs and the messiest of silliness.

Initial casting includes Dickie Beau, Amy Booth-Steel, Lawrence Hodgson-Mullings, Georgina Onuorah, and Cleve September.

In a season when many UK theatres have been forced to postpone their pantomimes, help us to celebrate its place at the heart of British theatre.

200x£20 seats at every show

Recommended age 6+

Originally commissioned by the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the National Theatre.

Following the latest Government advice about national Coronavirus measures between 5 November - 2 December, we're pleased that performances of Dick Whittington will begin as scheduled on Friday 11 December.  Should further measures lead to any changes in the performance schedule, please rest assured that you will be entitled to a refund.

We've put in place some changes to ensure your safety and wellbeing, all based on UK-wide COVID-19 industry standards.

Please be aware that tickets are only available online and in advance, and refreshments must be pre-ordered during the booking process.

When visiting, you’ll notice differences to the way you enter the building, and we’ll ask that you arrive at a specific time before the performance.

We're pleased to accept bookings for households or support bubbles of up to 6 people, but please be aware that our seats are only available in groups of 1, 2, 3 or 4 people, which allows us to maintain social distancing.

This means that bookings of 5–6 people will be split across multiple groups, and given separate pre-show tables. Depending on where your groups are seated in the theatre, you may also be given separate arrival times.

We're very lucky to have large, well-ventilated foyer spaces, with plenty of space for socially distanced one-way systems, all deep cleaned on a regular basis.

Inside the transformed Olivier theatre, we have physically distanced seating to protect both audiences and the live theatre experience.
