David O’Brien

David O’Brien studied music at Oxford University and jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. 

He works as a pianist, bassist and composer in a wide variety of genres such as Sephardic folk (with Mor Karbasi), progressive soul (with Shadow Writing), 1930s swing (with The Shirt Tale Stompers) and cross-arts collaborative improvisation (with Tongue Fu). He is currently working on a new trio project with bassist Kevin Glasgow and Gaspar Senna.

His own fusion band Porpoise Corpus won the prestigious Peter Whittingham Award in 2006.
