A Country of Refuge

Platform readings

Fri 10 June, 6pm
Running Time: 45 mins appprox

Most of the refugee stories we read about in the media are negative. But the reality is that our fellow humans are fleeing violence, persecution, poverty or intolerance.

Guests including authors Marina Lewycka, AL Kennedy and Roma Tearne, singer and artist Haymanot Tesfa, and actor Ben Miles, read from a new anthology of writings on asylum seekers by some of Britain and Ireland’s finest writers, edited by Lucy Popescu – which aims to make a positive and vital contribution to the national debate, and pay testament to the strength of the human spirit.

This Platform is followed by a booksigning of A Country of Refuge.
