Peter Butler is a designer for performance, specialising in set and costume design for theatre, devised theatre making and site-specific work.


For the National Theatre: Mnemonic (2024), a co-production with Complicité and Shut Up, I’m Dreaming

In London’s West End: Cabaret: Prologue at the KitKat Club, Playhouse Theatre (as associate set designer)

Peter Butler was a winner of the 2021 Linbury Prize for Stage Design. He is also a visiting practitioner at Central Saint Martins and The University of the Arts London, where he leads workshops and teaches on the BA Performance Design & Practice course.
