Cafes and bars

Whilst Covid-19 measures are in place, our restaurants, cafes and bars are closed. Ticket-holders for performances at the theatre need to book drinks and snacks in advance, and collect them on their way into the auditorium.

Foyer Café

Foyer café located in the ground floor foyer, the National Theatre’s all day café is the place to meet and enjoy freshly made cakes and sandwiches along with your favourite barista coffee. Take a seat inside the Piggott Atrium or outside on the square and enjoy the riverside views of London.

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 9:30am – 7:30pm


Olivier Café

Offering a range of sandwiches, salads, soup and quiches, open when there are performances in the Olivier Theatre. There are two balconies with views of London and a spacious indoor seating area. To reach the Olivier Café take one of the lifts from the ground floor to level 3 in the Olivier Theatre.

Opening hours: The Olivier Café opens one and a half hours before the show starts in the Olivier Theatre and closes at the end of the interval.

From coffee to cocktails, the NT has unique spaces for you to enjoy.

The Understudy, a relaxed and friendly craft beer pub at the National Theatre.

Espresso Bar, delicious coffees, freshly made cakes, sandwiches and snacks.

The Long Bar in the main foyer is open 5 − 10.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 12 noon − 10.30pm on days when there is a matinee performance in the Olivier or Lyttelton.

Olivier performance bars, in the stalls and circle foyers of the Olivier Theatre, open just before performances and during intervals.

Dorfman cafe bar, in the Dorfman foyer.

The Dorfman is our new multipurpose space, great for meetings, study sessions or a quiet lunch. Forming part of our Clore Learning Centre, the Dorfman offers access behind the scenes as you walk along the Sherling High-Level Walkway, or take part in a session in the Duffield Studio or Cottesloe Room.

The Dorfman Bar is open all day and stocks a wide range of drinks from lagers to lattes, whiskey to wine. There are sandwiches and cakes, popcorn and crisps, as well a selection of sweets and goodies for the kids. You can also buy gifts from our All About Theatre range, including a huge poster just waiting to be coloured in.
