Red

By John Logan
A production from Michael Grandage Company

Two actors performing on stage in a dramatic scene. One actor, a bald man in a paint-stained shirt with his hands on his hips, stands confidently in the foreground. The other actor, a younger man in a white shirt, stands slightly behind him, looking thoughtful. Behind them is a large abstract red painting, evoking the style of Mark Rothko, with a dimly lit studio-like setting.

Under the watchful gaze of his young assistant, and the threatening presence of a new generation of artists, Mark Rothko takes on his greatest challenge yet: to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting.

Michael Grandage directs the first West End revival of the multi-Tony Award winning production of John Logan’s Red, with Alfred Molina (The Da Vinci Code, Spider-Man 2) reprising his original role as Rothko and Alfred Enoch (How to Get Away with Murder) taking on the part of his young assistant.
