Tarek Merchant’s professional work entails a combination of performance, composition and musical direction credits. He is an Associate Artist of the Watermill Theatre.

For the National: The Odyssey: Episode Five − The Underworld,Hex (music director), Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear! – The Musical (music director) and Pericles (music director).

Musical director work includes: Don Quixote (also in the West End), Miss Littlewood, The Fantastic Follies of Mrs Rich and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the RSC; The Band’s Visit at Donmar Warehouse; 101 Dalmations at Regent’s Park; Sweeney Todd at Liverpool Everyman; Our Town and Twelfth Night at the Royal Exchange; The Grinning Man and Swallows and Amazons at Bristol Old Vic; Chess (assistant musical director) for Michael Harrison Productions; Fiddler on the Roof on UK tour; Sunset Boulevard at the Watermill and the Comedy; and Girl from the North Country in the West End.

Composition includes: The Brothers Grimm Present Cinderella at Barn Theatre, Cirencester; The Prince and the Pauper and The Borrowers at the Watermill; First Encounters: The Merchant of Venice at the RSC; Can’t Wait for Christmas! at the Orange Tree; and Arabian Nights at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh.
