SAY

SAY has been an associate at Dance East since 2022. In 2020, they were selected by The Place to be part of the Choreodrome residency to develop the concept for their show titled ‘the album’ which has since then toured nationally and internationally. They performed an excerpt of this piece at the 2023 National Theatre Riverstage the album:live. The commissioned piece, the album: skool edition, is in its third year of touring to schools and festivals. As a duo they have recently been featured dancers in the film The Marvels and were dance captains and performers in the Commonwealth Opening Ceremony 2022. SAY have recently created Break It Down for Trinity Laban; and SAY Something for NDCWales.

Sarah Golding is a co-founder of the SAY dance company. Work as choreographer or movement director includes Dave Okumu Choir at the Roundhouse; Say Something for NDCWales; Little Women at Park Theatre; Kalena at Pheonix Dance Theatre; The intro for Balletboyz; Blood and Belief for U.Mi-1, London Fashion week 2021; STATE for mapdance 2021; Oh What a Lovely War at Mountview; the conversations with x at Trinity Laban; Primetime at the Royal Court; SAY:AF for Dance Umbrella; Becoming Shades for Chivaree Circus; and Cruise in the West End. As a performer work includes the album for SAY; Commonwealth Games opening ceremony 2022 (as dance captain); The Deluge Lîla Dance; Us for Cathy Waller Company; Shame for bangbangbang group; Teh Internet is Serious Business at the Royal Court; Love_Dances for Adam Russell; TRIPTYCH for Quang Van; and STOMP in the West End and on international tour. Film includes The Marvels and TRANSIT-20.

Yukiko Masui is a co-founder of SAY dance company and an associate artist at The Place and Dance East. Masui has worked as choreographer or movement director, in theatre includes Miss Julieat Southwark Playhouse; Toy Show by RTE the Musical at Dublin Convention Centre; A Little Night Music at Story House; Say Yes to Tess at Yorkshire Playhouse; Guy: a New Musical at the Bunker; Taming of the Shrew for Two Gents; and Urine Town for London College of Music. Dance choreography includes Say Something for the National Dance Company of Wales; SAY AF for Dance Umbrella;Femme Spreading for Norrdans; Dream Deprivation at The Place; Drowning in Your Own Sins at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance; State of Readiness at London Studio Centre; and Break it Down at Trinity Laban. Work as a performer includes Carmen on international tour for Agudo Dance Company; Norrdans Rep on international tour; Tempo at Sadler’s Wells; Speak Louder Than Words on UK tour for Cathy Waller Company; Still I Rise for TRIBE; Smack That at the Barbican; and Saving Face at the Curve, Leicester. Film includes The Marvels. Yukiko Masui has been the recipient of a Choreography Award from DanceXchange and an Akram Khan mentoring Award from Sky Arts.
