Training

Mumba Dodwell trained as an actor at Arts University Bournemouth and began her directing training on the Intro to Directing course at the Young Vic.

Mumba Dodwell is a co-founder of the Diversity School Initiative, which was set up to address under-representation, inclusivity and diversity in UK drama schools.

Theatre

For the National: Death of England: Closing Time and Othello

As a director, work includes: Intimate Apparel at Guildhall School of Music and Drama; The Ancestors for National Youth Theatre; Tales from the Garden for the John Thaw Studio, Actors Centre; Black Ice for Theatre503; Addict at the Cockpit; and Black Boys Don’t Cry at Theatre Royal Stratford East. Work as an associate or assistant includes The Secret Life of Bees and Daddy at the Almeida; Rockets and Blue Lights at the Royal Exchange, for Lockdown Festival and at the National Theatre; Othello for National Youth Theatre, the Royal & Derngate and at Bolsover Castle; A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Frankenstein for National Youth Theatre; and The Court Must Have a Queen at Hampton Court Palace.
