Training

John Young trained on the National Theatre Directors Course, is a former Resident Assistant Director at Finborough Theatre and completed the Emerging Trainee Director Scheme at Theatr Clwyd.

As a director, his work for theatre includes: The Chester Mystery Plays at Chester Cathedral; Romeo and Juliet and The Merry Wives of Windsor at Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre; Vincent River at Hope Mill Theatre; To Dream Again for Polka and Theatr Clwyd; A Brief History of Holding Hands at Vault Festival; Scattered at Theatr Clwyd, West Yorkshire Playhouse and UK tour; We Know Where You Live at the Finborough; The Watchers at Southwark Playhouse; The Funny Thing About Depression at the South Douglas Old Friends Association; The Drag Nativity for United Services; When the Light Goes Out at Tatton Park; What the Walls Saw, The Thing Is and The Joy Show for Grosvenor Park Young Company; and Soft Beats the Heart for Theatre503.

Work as an assistant director includes: Kerry Jackson at the National Theatre; The Beggar’s Opera and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Storyhouse; Aladdin and Skyhawk the Musical for Theatr Clwyd; and Chicken Dust and Our American Cousin at the Finborough.
