What is the difference between Priority membership and Young Patron membership?
What can we say, we’re a social bunch. Young Patron membership is aimed at spring chickens under 45 and in addition to Priority Member benefits, which are the same except for the Platform discount, you receive access to our Young Patron events; you can come to Club Nights (complimentary receptions) around 4 productions a year and our brilliant annual Summer Party at an additional cost. The NT relies on the support of individuals and so by purchasing a Young Patron membership, your increased donation will have greater impact on the charitable work of the theatre. Is priority booking the same for Priority members and Young Patrons?
Yeah it is! Unless you are a Premium and Ambassador member, and then you get to book even earlier, usually by about 4 days. That’s lucky, because our popular productions have been known to sell out in that amount of time.
How much do Young Patron events cost?
As well as giving you access to the best tickets, at the lowest cost, we’ve only gone and thrown in invitations to some of our hottest events. Of course, we’re a charity so we do need you to stump up for a ticket, but we promise we’ll put on a great party.
Club Nights include a complimentary drink for you and a guest pre-show and if there’s an interval, plus a free programme. All you have to do is buy your show ticket from us. We always make sure there are a range of seats and prices available. You can purchase one ticket for yourself and then one additional ticket for a guest at the same price that members pay. As long as we have tickets available, we love to welcome extra guests for an additional cover charge.
Our annual Summer Party changes, depending on what exciting stuff we organise for you to do. Last year the ticket covered a party & Quiz at the 5* May Fair Hotel, including all the canapes and food, champagne reception, wine and the amazing entertainment for the evening. We invited loads of special guests to join us and our hosts, Oliver Chris and Olivia Colman. That ticket was £80 but in the past ranged from £50 to £100.
What are Club Nights?
Club Nights are the social focus for Young Patrons. They provide the opportunity for members to see our most talked-about shows, whilst networking in a relaxed and fun environment. Nights are chosen by us ahead of each season opening for booking – we hold tickets just in case it sells out straight away. You pay for a show ticket and we throw in the rest; nights include a complimentary drink for you and a guest pre-show, plus a free programme. We always make sure there are a range of seats and prices available in the stalls, circle and if applicable, gallery. You can purchase one ticket for yourself and then one additional ticket for a guest at the same price that members pay. As long as we have tickets available, we love to welcome extra guests for an additional cover charge.
When do we find out about Young Patron events?
We’ll send you can email once the new season and its booking dates have been announced. We want you to have all the dates for your diary so that you can work things out. Once booking is open for your membership level, send us your requests and we’ll book you in. Hassle. Free.
Does my membership include discounts on tickets, café or bookshop?
We are a registered charity and we rely on income from Box Office, our bars and cafes and bookshop in order to stage the wonderful productions you see. For this reason we aren’t able to offer discounts as part of membership, but one of the fantastic benefits of being a member is receiving priority access to tickets for all of our Southbank productions, which includes our bargain £15 seats. As a member you also are free from booking fees. If you are an Associate, Premium or Ambassador member you can use our private members bar with views overlooking the Thames.
When will my membership be active?
If you sign up by monthly or annual Direct Debit online, your membership will be active within two working days of signing up. If you opt for a one off payment, the membership will be active immediately. Once activated, you will receive a welcome email from us detailing all of your membership information and upcoming events and we will also send a welcome pack to you in the post.
I really want to see a show but it’s sold out on the website. Is there anything I can do?
Probably, yes. We hold an allocation of tickets specifically for our Premium and Ambassador members so that they can book last minute.
I’m 45, can I be a Young Patron Member?
Absolutely not! However, we’d still be thrilled to have your support and would like you to consider becoming a member at another level. Find out more here
