This four-day course led by Nina-Marie Gardner will cover a different element of playwriting each day and provides an opportunity for dramaturgy support as a follow-up. An overriding theme of ‘writer’s voice’ spans the first two days, as we consider what stories we can/should tell and what stories need telling. The final half of the week, gives form to the voices and stories and touches on beginnings and endings and the process of rewriting.
The course outline is as follows:
Day 1: character
Day 2: monologue & dialogue
Day 3: structure
Day 4: setting/time and place
Each session runs from 10.30am to 1pm, and the room will then be available for you until 5pm, if you wish to stay on and use it for writing.
After the course, you can use up to two- three hours dramaturgy time with Nina-Marie Gardner – either by submitting a treatment or a selection of scenes for feedback. Submissions must be within seven days of completing the course (by Thursday 13 August), and you’ll receive written feedback within four weeks, by Thursday 10 September.
