Ben Power discusses the process of adapting a foreign-language play, starting with the literal translation through to the challenges and rewards that a playwright encounters when writing an adaptation. Power wrote the adaptation of The Lehman Trilogy, which was originally written in Italian by Stefano Massini.
Ben Power is the Deputy Artistic Director of the National Theatre. His foreign-language adaptations for the National include Medea and Ibsen’s Emperor and Galilean and he has worked as dramaturg on over 50 productions for the NT.
