River Stage: The Glory 2016

East London’s notorious establishment The Glory took over the Riverside Stage for the weekend in 2016, led by drag landlords Jonny Woo and John Sizzle. 

Featuring a cherry-picked cast of East London’s hottest acts and most sensational underground stars, this weekend-long showcase boasts a glistening charm bracelet of self-contained concerts, and each day is capped off with a fabulous drag-fuelled party, reincarnating some of The Glory’s most renowned nights.

Lou Reed’s seminal 1972 album is re-imagined and revved up by a roaring live band fronted by East London star Jonny Woo.

8 – 9pm
John Sizzle and the stars from The Glory’s notorious drag queen battle LIPSYNC1000 bring all their shimmy to this Top of the Pops-inspired drag queen special.

9 – 10.45pm
Drag DJs John Sizzle and Jonny Woo are inviting you to a free GLORIOUS RAVE here at the Riverside Stage.

Mr Tiddle Tum Tums & Other Stories

1.30 – 2.30pm 
Jonny Woo gives a preview of his children’s show which he is developing in Margate. Expect tongue twisters, original music and fab costumes. 
This will be a BSL signed performance.

6 – 7pm
The world's leading ‘bio queen’ Holestar teams up with John Sizzle for a drag-fuelled karaoke spectacular attempting to break the world record for London's biggest outdoor sing-a-long.

Drag DJ duo John Sizzle and A Man To Pet will bring a tropical beach party of saucy shows and cheeky dance routines.

Put your history books away because tonight The Glory presents this treasure chest of East London’s most avant-garde drag queens and drag kings in a ‘game of thrones’ performance battle.

Irish pianist and songwriter Rudi Douglas plays ‘the songs that made me gay’, with Jonny Woo hosting. Pull up a deckchair and mince down memory lane!

8.30 – 10.45pm 
Get your freak on people, it’s time for one hell of a chic disco party to add sparkle to your Saturday night. The Glory pays homage to all the glamour and drama of 70s New York with a present-day East London twist.

12 – 2pm 
Morris Munroe brings his cult East London art class Queer Bodies to the River Stage, hosted by Jonny Woo.

4 – 5pm
It’s your last chance to join Jonny Woo and John Sizzle as they wave goodbye to The Glory’s River Stage weekend with a final hour of feel-good, laid-back grooves, pop-up shows and Sunday sing-a-longs.

Sizzle’s Lunchtime Lounge

2 – 3pm 
John Sizzle plays the best in laid-back Sunday grooves. Pull up a deck chair, pop open the Prosecco and let the Thames pass by while East London's leading drag DJ spins a mix of chilled-out classics. Because Sundays are sacred.

Le Gateau Chocolat joins East London superstar Jonny Woo for this joyous outdoor matinee rendition of their infamously fun show A Night At The Musicals.
