Familiar Stranger - A conversation with The Stuart Hall Foundation

Wed 24 July 2019, 6pm
Running Time: 1 hour

Join us for an evening of conversation inspired by Stuart Hall's memoir Familiar Stranger  with Bill Schwarz (author and co-writer of Familiar Stranger), Jay Bernard (writer, filmmaker, poet) and Anna Himali Howard (director and theatre-maker, currently staff director on Small Island at the National Theatre) chaired by Gilane Tawadros (Chair of the Stuart Hall Foundation and Chief Executive of DACS). The conversation invites new generations of cultural practitioners to connect with and respond to Stuart Hall’s life and work.  Timed to coincide with the National Theatre’s stage production of the award-winning novel Small Island by the acclaimed writer and founding trustee of the Stuart Hall Foundation Andrea Levy, the conversation invites new generations of cultural practitioners to connect with and respond to two classic works of fiction and non-fiction.

This event is programmed in collaboration with The Stuart Hall Foundation
