Death of England: Delroy

a new play by Clint Dyer and Roy Williams

From 21 October to 28 November
Running Time: Approx. 90 minutes (no interval)

Death of England: Delroy

London, 2020. Delroy is arrested on his way to the hospital.

Filled with anger and grief, he recalls the moments and relationships that gave him hope before his life was irrevocably changed.

Written in response to their play Death of England, Michael Balogun plays Delroy in this new standalone work by Clint Dyer and Roy Williams, which explores a Black working class man searching for truth and confronting his relationship with Great Britain.

'A punkish state-of-the-nation address – truly a play for today.'
Guardian on Death of England

200x£20 seats at every show

Death of England: Delroy takes inspiration from the short film Dim Sum, written by Clint Dyer, produced by Headlong and the Guardian.

PLEASE NOTE: The play contains flashing lights, adult themes and strong language, some of which is racially offensive.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the National Theatre.

Following the latest Government guidance for London, we're pleased that socially distanced performances of Death of England: Delroy will go ahead as scheduled from 21 October.

We've put in place some changes to ensure your safety and wellbeing, all based on UK-wide COVID-19 industry standards.

Please be aware that tickets are only available online and in advance, and refreshments must be pre-ordered during the booking process. Rest assured, if Government measures lead to any changes to the performance schedule, you will be entitled to a refund.

When visiting, you’ll notice differences to the way you enter the building, and we’ll ask that you arrive in good time of the performance.

We're very lucky to have large, well-ventilated foyer spaces, with plenty of space for socially distanced one-way systems, all deep cleaned on a regular basis.

Inside the transformed Olivier theatre, we have physically distanced seating, grouped in households or support bubbles of 1-4 people, to protect both audiences and the live theatre experience.
