David Suchet: Behind the Lens

Fri 4 October, 6pm
Running Time: 45 minutes

Actor David Suchet has been a stalwart of British stage and television for 50 years. From Shakespeare to Oscar Wilde, Freud to Poirot, Edward Teller to Doctor Who, Questions of Faith to Decline and Fall, right up to Press in 2018, Suchet has done it all. Throughout his career, Suchet has never been without a camera, enabling him to vividly document his life in photographs. Combining photo and memoir, Suchet will discuss his remarkable career, as well as his London upbringing and love of the city, family life, views on religion and his Jewish roots, his love of photography – inherited from his grandfather, the Fleet Street photographer James Jarche – and much more.

David Suchet’s autobiography Behind the Lens is published on 3 October. After the talk, Suchet will be signing copies of Behind the Lens. When you buy your copy from the National Theatre Bookshop, you support the work of the NT.
