In Context: GLC Story- Black Feminist Theatre, 1981-86

Saturday 1 April, 2pm
Running Time: 3 hrs

Alongside our exhibition showing photographs of black theatre in London from the 1980-90s, this session explores the Greater London Council story revealing their support for grass roots arts at a crucial time in the development of many young black theatre performers, writers and companies.  Contributors will also explore the legacy of Black Feminist Theatre between 1981-86 by using material from the archives of the National Theatre, BAC and LMA. With contributions from Hayley Reid and from A Greater London. A Greater London aims to engage current Londoners with the story of the Greater London Council before its abolition in 1986.
