An all-time classic Italian neo-realist film from director Vittorio De Sica. Set in post-war Italy, Bicycle Thieves follows the story of Ricci, an unemployed father who eventually secures a job for which he needs a bicycle. But soon the newly bought bicycle is stolen and Ricci and his son walk the streets of Rome, in search of it.
Tender, tragic and full of spirit the film captures the desperation of the times and deservedly won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film for adapted screenplay in 1950.
