16 – 21: Lyricism: writing for performance
Saturday 19 May, 11am–5pm
This workshop is available to 16–21-year-olds
£10 (bursaries are available)
Lyricism is choice under pressure: right words, right flow, right beat.
Are you an emcee, poet or writer? Interested in bringing your lyrical flows to the stage?
Working with theatre director Nathan Crossan-Smith, you will break down grime and hip hop tracks, write your own bars and explore how to layer words with movement to create performance.
Nathan Crossan-Smith creates new work with a focus on lyricism and movement. Crossan-Smith is an Associate Director for Hydrocracker Theatre and runs the youth justice project Tipping Point. He focuses on work for young people with companies including National Theatre Wales, 20 Stories High, Kids Company, The Yard, WHY? Festival and Contact. He is a Deutsche Bank Award winner and the Runner Up for the 2017 JMK Award.
We would never want cost to prevent anyone from taking part. Full and part-funded bursary places are available. If you would like to apply for one, please fill in this form.
