Toby Olié

Toby Olié is a director, designer and puppeteer who trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He is co-artistic director of Gyre & Gimble, a theatre company specialising in puppetry.

For the National: The Elephantom (co-director/puppet designer), Peter Pan, The Light Princess, Hansel & Gretel (puppet designer), War Horse (associate puppetry director, also West End). He was the hind of Joey in the original production of War Horse and played the heads of both Joey and Topthorn in the West End transfer.

For the RSC: Venus & Adonis, Don Quixote.

In London's West End: Goodnight Mister Tom, The Grinning Man, The Wind in the Willows.

Other productions include: Disney's The Little Mermaid, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons: A Reimagining, The Hartlepool Monkey, Running Wild, Little Shop of Horrors, The Secret Garden, A Christmas Carol, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Firework-Maker's Daughter.

National Theatre: 50 Years on Stage as the head of Joey the horse in War Horse, The Homeless Polar Bear (short film for Greenpeace), Mongrels and Little Crackers.
