All of our plays and video content on National Theatre at Home have closed captioning for d/Deaf and hard of hearing audiences.

The captions will not appear on the plays or trailers automatically. You will need to turn them on each time you watch anything.

You can watch National Theatre plays Amadeus, Angels In America Parts One and Two, Chewing Gum DreamsConsent, Julie, MedeaOthello, PhedreThe Cherry Orchard , The Comedy of Errors and The Deep Blue Sea as well as Coriolanus from the Donmar Warehouse, All My Sons from The Old Vic and Headlong, Yerma and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof from the Young Vic and Julius Caesar from the Bridge Theatre with Audio Description.

Each Audio Described performance is accompanied by Intro Notes (in MP4 format) that describe the story, set, cast and costumes for audiences to listen to in advance of watching the production.

We made War Horse available as a pilot play for this new access provision. We will be working with our customers and industry stakeholders to gather feedback before making decisions about BSL programming in the future.
