Information for schools visiting the NT

Staging around 25 productions of new plays and classics from the world repertoire each year and with consistently high production values, the National Theatre is the place to experience live theatre that your students will always remember.

How to book for school groups

To book tickets please call the Group Booking line on 020 7452 3010 or complete the appropriate Group Booking request form

UK Schools group bookings (for performances at the National Theatre)
UK Schools group bookings (for performances in the West End)
UK College group bookings (for performances at the National Theatre)
Non-UK educaton group bookings (for performances at the National Theatre)

Education group bookings can be held for 3 weeks from the date of reservation, or until 10 days before the performance date, whilst awaiting payment (whichever is sooner).

Education Group rates (10+ people):

UK school groups (under 19 years): £12
UK college and university groups (aged 19-25 years): £15
Non-UK school/college group (aged under 26 years): £20
For every nine students you book you get one teacher place at the same reduced rate

Excludes Saturday evenings and West End productions

Performances are only a part of the National Theatre experience. The National Theatre is bursting with ways to connect professional theatre-making with all different subjects' curriculums.

  • Workshops and Q&A sessions for school and college groups are available for all productions. If you would like to arrange for a workshop or Q&A session on the day of your visit please email
  • On a backstage tour our knowledgeable and friendly guides will lead you through the backstage areas of the theatre. Following in the footsteps of the greatest actors and directors of the last 35 years they will reveal the secrets that bring our productions to the stage
  • A visit to the National Theatre Archive is a chance for your students to see a past production that will support their study. To arrange for a free private video screening of productions from the National Theatre's back catalogue please email
