Theatre and Activism: The Normal Heart and the 1980s AIDS Crisis

Larry Kramer's groundbreaking play The Normal Heart tells the story of the 1980s American AIDS crisis and the activists who paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights. "I really want young people to see queer people on stage of all kinds, all colours, and to see that we were there, we fought, and we have power." Elander Moore Dominic Cooke (Follies, Courier), director of The Normal Heart (2021) at the National Theatre, is joined by cast members Ben Daniels (The Patriot), Liz Carr (Silent Witness), Dino Fetscher (Years and Years) and Elander Moore (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again). Marking 35 years since its explosive UK premiere, it plays in our Olivier theatre 23 September - 6 November 2021.
