Barney Norris was born in Sussex in 1987. After leaving university he founded the touring theatre company Up in Arms with Alice Hamilton.
His plays include While We’re Here for Up in Arms at the Bush and on tour; Echo’s End at Salisbury Playhouse; Eventide at the Arcola and on tour; the acclaimed Visitors for Up in Arms, Arcola and on tour; and the short plays Every You Every Me at Salisbury Playhouse and on tour; Fear of Music for Up in Arms and Out of Joint; and At First Sight for Up in Arms at Latitude Festival and on tour. His book To Bodies Gone: The Theatre of Peter Gill is published by Seren, and his first novel Five Rivers Met on a Wooded Plain was published by Transworld in 2016. Norris was nominated for an Evening Standard Award in 2014 and won the Critic’s Circle Most Promising New Playwright Award in the same year.
