The How to be a Producer course has been running at National Theatre for over 5 years.
Have you ever wondered what a producer does and how they do it? Our How to be a Producer course opens up all the skills and tools needed to produce a cultural event and provides an opportunity to meet and learn from professional producers from across the creative industries.
Learn about budgeting, marketing, project management and working with artists in a fun and friendly environment led by a professional producer.
The next producing course will run in spring 2023 and applications will open in Autumn 2022.
'A truly special experience and an opportunity I would recommend.'
'Being in the NT building and seeing the physical manifestations of this project was just incredibly heartwarming and something that I will not forget.'
In spring 2022 we ran our first ever Young Producers Takeover: an exciting new extension to our How To Be A Producer course. Working with cultural producers Tobi Kyeremateng and Alistair Wilkinson, eight producing course participants had the opportunity to return to the National Theatre and work with us to programme and produce a series of events to accompany the National Theatre’s production of Our Generation, a new verbatim play by Alecky Blythe which followed the lives of 12 young people from across the UK.
This project ran online for three months of idea generation, collaboration and detailed planning around the theme ‘what does it mean to be young today?’ The project culminated with an in-person weekend where the Young Producers delivered live events, digital workshops and created filmed and social media content.
