We want to say a massive thank you to nearly 500 drama teachers who gave up their half-term to attend our first-ever digital Drama Teacher Conference. This was the first time our conference was held online, and meant we were able to welcome more than triple the number of teachers we can normally host at the NT, from across the country.
Attendees were able to join over 30 masterclasses led by leading theatre makers including director Marianne Elliott (Angels in America), actor Maxine Peake, and theatre critic Lyn Gardner.
This year’s conference comes at a time when online learning is forcing the prioritisation of core subjects and making practical subjects, like drama, much more challenging. However, we've been overwhelmed and inspired by the passion, energy and expertise that our teachers continue to display, especially under such challenging circumstances.
Many of the brilliant artists who work at the NT lend their success to inspirational drama teachers, and it's a privilege that through our work, we can support teachers to inspire the next generation of theatre-makers.
