The Pride opens at the Royal Court Upstairs

26 November 2008

Alexi Kaye Campbell's The Pride opens tonight (November 26th) at the Royal Court Upstairs after previewing from November 21st.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd, who recently worked on the revival of Piaf at the Donmar Warehouse, the production runs until December 20th and is set over the course of 50 years, analysing changing attitudes to sexuality during this time.

In 1958, Oliver is married to Sylvia and Philip is in love with him, while in 2008 Philip is addicted to pursuing sex with strangers and Sylvia loves them both.

The cast includes Bertie Carvel, JJ Feild, Lyndsey Marshal and Tim Steed while Ben and Max Ringham are responsible for the music and sound with Soutra Gilmour behind the design.

Bertie Carvel was nominated for a Laurence Olivier award for his role in the musical Parade at the Donmar Warehouse.

He has also appeared in a number of productions at the National Theatre including The Man Of Mode, The Life Of Galileo and Coram Boy.
