A Midsummer Night's Dream to return to Victoria Park
28 September 2008
Physical theatre group Footsbarn will make its second appearance in London this year with its production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in Victorian Park. The play is to run from November 12th to the 30th and follows a production of A Shakespeare Party as part of the Globe Theatre's Totus Mundus season in May.
Dominic Dromgoole, artistic director at the Globe, dubbed the group "the parents of complicite and the grandparents of kneehigh" following their five sell-out performances, reported Whatsonstage.com.
Footsbarn will stage the play inside its trade-mark big top tent which has been on tour throughout 2008.
Their version of A Midsummer Night's Dream appeared at the Edinburgh Festival for the first time this year and won the Total Theatre Award.
Footsbarn was established over 35 years ago in Cornwall in a barn belonging to Oliver Foot's farm.
The ensemble is now based in France, comprises of actors and performers from 12 nationalities and has performed 60 plays across six continents.
