Money

by Edward Bulwer-Lytton (1840)

Everyone has a relationship with money, good or bad, but it's there...

Written by a close friend of Charles Dickens, Money is a warm, generous and frequently hilarious comedy about the effects of wealth, or lack of it, on people, their friends and attachments.

Edward Bulwer-Lytton had a deep social awareness and was troubled by the divide between rich and poor. His angry, radical ideas were poured into Money. But the play is more than just a piece of social commentary, it is also that great rarity - a genuine Victorian comedy.
