LYRIC HAMMERSMITH AND FILTER PRODUCTION
Artistic Director Sean Holmes and Filter reunite to remix, rework and revitalise A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This new version of Shakespeare’s classic play follows the success of Three Sisters and Twelfth Night.

ROYAL OPERA HOUSE LINBURY STUDIO THEATRE (ROH2)
Composer Neil Hannon’s 2012 OperaShot will be based on the extraordinary novel Roy Orbison in Clingfilm by the Dusseldorf-based internet eccentric Ulrich Haarbürste. The production will be directed by John Lloyd Davies, and continues ROH2’s OperaShot policy of commissioning composers from outside the operatic mainstream to create new and innovative music theatre work.

THE OPERA GROUP
The Opera Group’s winner will design the premiere production of a new opera by British composer Edward Rushton and Indian poet Jeet Thayil, Babur in London. Four young people believe they have found their true destiny, until the ghost of a 500-year old Indian emperor, the first of the Mughals, rides up the Thames. This major international collaboration is a partnership with Anvil Arts, Opera North, the British Council, Pro Helvetia and the Ensemble fur Neue Musik Zurich. The production, directed by John Fulljames, will tour Switzerland, India and the UK.

WATERMILL THEATRE, NEWBURY
Shakespeare’s magical play The Tempest, will use a combination of the Watermill’s trademark actor musicians with a newly composed score creating the ‘music of the isle’. The production will be directed by Paul Hart who trained at the Donmar Warehouse and is now Associate Director for Propeller.
