Following the celebrated production of The Cat in the Hat at the National and Young Vic, director Katie Mitchell brings to the stage this enchanting and timeless fairy-tale.

There will be magic here on this stage tonight. Do not be fooled: I am no tawdry conjurer.

I have real magic at my fingertips.

Tonight I will take you back through time and make books speak. I will cause mirrors to misbehave, and bring you within touching distance of planets and stars that are eight million light years away. I will raise the dead and make them live and breathe before you!

My powers are infinite, and tonight I devote them to you.
