For Teachers

Secondary and Further Education

Our programme of professional development courses for teachers explores different aspects of teaching drama, making theatre in school, and personal impact in the classroom. All our courses are led by expert theatre practitioners who also know about the particular demands of working school. They help you take professional approaches and transfer them to your classroom.

Forthcoming CPD courses

Voice and the young actor
Saturday 16 June, 10am - 5pm
Understand how the voice works and help develop your own practice. Jeanette Nelson, Head of Voice at the NT, will explore vocal anatomy and health; breathing, resonance, projection and articulation; how to structure a warm-up and help students to avoid strain. Then you'll get to put that into practice through work on texts.
Cost £150 (includes course notes, lunch, refreshments and a ticket to an NT production on the evening of the course).

Shakespeare on Stage
Monday 9 July, 10am - 4pm
Understand Shakespeare on Stage is National Theatre Learning's annual event for secondary school teachers directing Shakespeare with their students. The day will comprise a series of masterclasses, delivered on the Lyttelton stage by NT artists and educators, exploring the approaches used successfully at the NT and how to adapt them for effective use in schools.

Further details of speakers to be posted here as they are confirmed.
