The National Theatre's Archive is open to anyone with an interest in the NT's history. On a visit to the archive you will have access to a wide range of materials to satisfy every research interest. From set models and costume drawings, to video and sound recordings of past productions, to lighting plots and music scores, to posters, programmes, and press reviews, to Stage Managers' reports for every single night's performance at the National Theatre since 22 October 1963 when we first opened.

Opening hours:
The Archive is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, except Thursdays when we open from 12 to 8pm. You can drop in to find out more but to make the most of our resources it is best to book a visit in advance.
In person:
In our research room you can access the traditional materials (paper, photographs, costume materials) and the new National Theatre Digital Archive system; this system allows on-demand access to audio and video from the NT collection. Five workstations are available allowing two researchers per station. Our Seminar Room is available for formal learning programmes and informal talks and screenings for larger groups - please apply for bookings at least one week in advance.
For groups:
Our seminar room caters for group screenings, lectures, and introductory sessions. Give us a call to discuss how we might shape a group visit to best suit your needs.

Access:
The Archive research room is located on the first floor level, it is accessible via a lift. If you have any specific access requirements please discuss these with the Archivist.
Reprographic Services:
For researchers unable to visit the Archive, there is a photocopying service for certain types of materials. Current charges are 20p per A4 sheet and 30p per A3 sheet plus postage and packing. A copyright declaration must be signed and returned, together with payment, before despatch.
