What's On

Motionhouse Dance Theatre (UK)
Underground | Chaser | dance workshops
Wed 18 - Sun 22 August (see calender for details)
Their exciting outdoor productions have raised the bar for contemporary dance in unusual spaces; Chaser is a high-energy tale of three disparate souls at the end of a long night in a bar and Underground is a unexpected take on the daily commute, which examines unwanted proximity, interaction between strangers and misguided suspicion. www.motionhouse.co.uk
FREE Motionhouse Dance Workshops – book in advance on 020 7452 3445, limited places. Wear loose clothing for energetic dance.

Revolutionary Steps
Stan’s Café (UK)
Thu 5 - Mon 30 August (during NT opening hours)
The story of Danton’s Death has leaked out of the Olivier Theatre and into the foyer, up the stairs and all around the National. The ‘script’ for this radically reimagined version of the French Revolution story is marked out in vinyl footprints, handprints and speech bubbles waiting for you to perform it. Solve the mini performance puzzles to work out what happens in each scene and make the piece your own; act it out with friends and family of all ages. Be playful. Be revolutionary. Have fun.
Revolutionary Steps is the most recent in the Steps Series by the adventurous theatre company Stan’s Café. www.stanscafe.co.uk

The Battle of Waterloo
The British Stage in Miniature
Minature performances projected live on the Flytower Fri 13 & Sat 14 August at 10pm.
The Toy Theatre first appeared in the early 1800s, miniaturising the great productions of the day into intricately detailed cardboard cut-out versions. Young Blood lovingly recreates these mini-masterpieces in his outsize Corinthian Theatre and his hand-coloured, cut-out figures and scenery burst into life with accompanying music adding a contemporary twist. In The Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon’s defeat at the hands of the Duke of Wellington takes its rightful place overlooking the bridge that bears the name of that famous battle.
