Full Monty returns to the London stage
A new production of the musical The Full Monty is to be staged at the New Players theatre this Christmas, marking its return to the London stage after seven years.
The show, created by Terrence McNally and David Yazbek, had its UK debut at the Prince of Wales theatre in 2002 after transferring from Broadway.
Based on the 1997 British film with the same name, which starred Robert Carlyle and Tom Wilkinson, the musical will run from 3 December to 2 January 2010 with a preview on 2 December.
The West End return will follow a 25-date run at the Broadway theatre in Catford from 4 November.
Originally, The Full Monty told the story of a group of unemployed Sheffield steelworkers who hatch a moneymaking plan after seeing how much their wives enjoy themselves at a strip show.
The new Nick Robinson production, directed by Thom Southerland, follows the same story but places the action in Buffalo, New York.
Casting is yet to be announced for the show, which enjoyed a 770-performance run at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in 2000 following its world premiere in San Diego, California.
