Out of Joint and Octagon Theatre Bolton present Mixed Up North

4 STARS - CRITIC'S CHOICE 'Skilfully choreographed by the director Max Stafford-Clark, flippant, funny and sometimes disturbing views of both participants and leaders are forcefully expressed by a lively cast.' Sunday Times

4 STARS 'Bracing, combative and oddly joyous... Highly recommended.' Independent

4 STARS Whatsonstage, Daily Express

Based on real events, Mixed Up North is a fiercely funny and moving new play about an attempt to unite communities in the Lancashire mill town of Burnley.

Trish leads a youth theatre group designed to bring Asian and White teenagers together. As she struggles to share her artistic vision with a cast who think acting is “gay”, the compelling stories of the young stars unfold.

Max Stafford-Clark directed The Overwhelming and The Permanent Way for Out of Joint and the NT.
