Set in the modern day, but inspired by ancient myth, Moira Buffini’s new play explores head-on an encounter between the world’s richest and poorest countries in the aftermath of a brutal war.

Richard Eyre directs a superb cast of 26 including David Harewood (The Mountaintop) and Nikki Amuka-Bird (BBC’s Small Island, Survivors).

Danton’s Death

An exhilarating political thriller.

1794: the French Revolution reaches its climax. After a series of bloody purges, the life-loving Danton feels tormented by the part he has played, and calls for an end to the killing. A titanic struggle begins, which threatens not only Danton’s life, but the fate of countless others.

Howard Brenton’s new version of Danton’s Death captures the vivid energy of Georg Büchner’s play. Michael Grandage directs Toby Stephens (The Real Thing, Old Vic; Hamlet, RSC) as Danton.

Hamlet

by William Shakespeare

Opening in September, Nicholas Hytner’s production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, with Rory Kinnear as Hamlet and Clare Higgins as Gertrude.  Hamlet will tour in the UK and internationally in spring 2011.
