Nick Dear talks about Louis XIV, Fouquet and the creation of the Sun King: subjects of his new play, Power.

Nick Dear's theatre credits include The Art of Success (a portrait of the artist William Hogarth) for the RSC and subsequently at the Manhattan Theatre Club, New York. The Last Days of Don Juan (after Tirso de Molina; RSC 1990), In the Ruins (Royal Court 1990), Food of Love (Almeida 1988), A Family Affair (after Ostrovsky; Cheek by Jowl 1988), The Art of Success (RSC 1986), Temptation (RSC 1984) and Battle Royal (NT 2000). He has written the libretti for two operas, A Family Affair (1993) and Siren Sony (1994), both premiered at the Almedia Opera Festival.
