James Bierman appointed at the Donmar

James Bierman has been appointed to the position of executive producer at the Donmar Warehouse.

Previously in the role of acting executive producer, he follows Lucy Davies who relinquished the post to take on the role of producer for the National Theatre of Wales.

He was the Donmar's general manager from 2006 before stepping in to produce while Davies was on maternity leave.

Commenting on his appointment, Bierman said: "Having worked with Michael [Grandage] and the team in this role for the past nine months, I know just how amazing and unique this opportunity is.

"It has been a time of significant expansion for the company and I look forward to consolidating that work and undertaking the exciting challenges that lie ahead."

Since joining the Donmar Warehouse, Bierman has been responsible for its year-long residency at the Wyndham's Theatre as well as overseeing the international transfer of certain productions.

Meanwhile, Michael Grandage's version of Twelfth Night is currently running at the Wyndham's Theatre as part of the Donmar Warehouse's season.
