Travel Information
The Deckis a roof-top venue at the National Theatre, which is on the South Bank of the Thames, just minutes from Covent Garden, the West End and Waterloo.
Arrival and drop-off points
The Deck is located on level three of the National Theatre. There are four lifts which can be taken to this level or there is the main staircase. Please note that due to mezzanine levels on each floor level three is in fact 6 levels up should you decide to take the stairs.
Once on level three exit on to The Ashcroft Room balcony and follow the external balcony around to The Deck. Once on The Deck's terrace access into The Deck is via wide glass sliding doors. The Deck remains closed when not in use for events so access for viewings is by appointment only.
The National's main entrance, for The Deck, the Olivier and Lyttelton Theatres and foyers, is on Theatre Square on the river front. It can be reached from Upper Ground via Theatre Avenue (next to the British Film Theatre and Waterloo Bridge) from where there is flat access to Theatre Square and a drop-off point for cars and taxis - about 40m/132ft from the main entrance.
Alternatively, there's a drop-off point at the end of Cottesloe Avenue (next to the IBM building). Use this for setting down for the Cottesloe Theatre.
