Richard Dreyfuss to feature in Complicit

3 November 2008

Hollywood actor Richard Dreyfuss is set to feature in the world premiere of Joe Sutton's Complicit at the Old Vic in the New Year.

Directed by the theatre's artistic director Kevin Spacey, the play is to preview from January 7th and run until February 21st 2009.

The actor has previously featured in The Prisoner of Second Avenue at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket in 1999.

He was due to play the role of Max Bialystock in The Producers at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2004 but withdrew before previews were due to begin.

Spacey said he was delighted that Dreyfuss was taking on the role of the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who finds himself in front of the Supreme Court's special prosecutor.

"He is a brilliant actor whom I've long admired and I'm thrilled that we are being given this opportunity to work together. It's great that he is coming to London and I think audiences are in for a real treat," said the Old Vic's artistic director.

Spacey directed Cloaca when he first joined the Old Vic in 2004.
