Lucky Seven opens at Hampstead Theatre

3 November 2008

Lucky Seven, a new comedy by Alexis Zegerman, opens on November 4th at the Hampstead Theatre after beginning previews on October 31st.

The play, which is inspired by the Seven Up television series, tells the story of upper-class Catherine, working-class Alan and middle-class Tom.

All three are part of a televised social experiment, which sees the trio meeting up every seven years to discuss their lives.

Directed by Anthony Clark, the play features Susannah Harker, David Kennedy and Jonny Weir in the cast.

In an interview with the Hampstead Theatre, Ms Zegerman said: "The series sort of started of as a serious social Litmus test of the time about whether people can rise above their social class or whether it predetermines what they're going to achieve in life."

"And it's certainly a question I hope I raise in the play," she added.

Previously Ms Zegerman won the Soho Theatre's Westminster Prize for New Writing in 2003 and played the part of Zoe in Mike Leigh's latest film, Happy Go Lucky.
