29 September 2008

The new version of Arthur Miller's All My Sons was the highest earner on Broadway in New York last week.

Figures from Playbill.com revealed that the production, which features Tom Cruise's other half Katie Holmes, grossed $ 684,002 (£342,000) during its first full week.

Although the play is still previewing until October 16th, the eight performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre were nearly full with 97.6 per cent of the 1,052 seats taken.

Simon McBurney directs the play with John Lithgow and two-time Oscar winner Diane Wiest in the supporting cast as well as Ms Holmes.

Her husband described her debut Broadway performance as "extraordinary".

Meanwhile, Equus featuring Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe opened at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York last week.

The play, which appeared at the Gielgud Theatre in London earlier in the year, was the second highest grossing production of last week bringing $597,346 worth of revenue to the venue.
