Music in the three theatres

About

The Olivier frequently has musicians in view, in the 'ashtrays' on either side of the auditorium. In the Cottesloe, musicians often appear on the balconies. Although the Lyttelton theatre was designed to house a full orchestra in an orchestra pit in the front section of the stage, this is rarely used. All three theatres also have band rooms separately from the auditorium, where musicians can play and have the sound relayed to the stage.
