Waves
The return of the five-star, ground-breaking production which brings Virgina Woolf's novel to life with live video and sound.
FIVE STARS
Financial Times, The Times, Time Out
'An extraordinary show. Spellbinding, sophisticated and moving.'
Sunday Times
‘Theatre and video come together so seamlessly and complement each other so exquisitely it is as if Katie Mitchell, her actors, and video artist Leo Warner have created an entirely new art form.’
Guardian Online
Waves is based on the novel by Virginia Woolf. A tale of friendship, loss, identity and love, it follows a group of friends from childhood to old age and death.
The production brings together an astonishing fusion of digital and theatrical techniques to evoke the thoughts and experiences of each character.
Echoing the fragmented narrative form of Woolf’s novel, vivid images are created on stage by the actors, making ingenious use of simple props. Framed and projected via live video feeds, the scenes are accompanied by live music and sounds to brilliantly recall moods and environments.
A chance to see the original National Theatre cast in this unique and acclaimed production, prior to a Broadway run and a world tour.
