About

The content of the audition can depend on how much the director already knows the actor's work. Wendy Spon, Head of Casting at the National finds that an actor being familiar with the text, rather than learning it word for word, can make it easier for the actor to take direction. For some roles actors are required to audition more than once, and in such cases Wendy finds it interesting to observe how an actor develops from their first to second audition.
