It Snows

Same old story. Boy doesn’t meet Girl. Girl doesn’t meet Boy. Threatened by terrifying Lads Gang. Threatened by awe-inspiring Girls Gang. Mum and Dad have declared War. Against each other. Weird neighbour in the building opposite. Usual ordinary gloominess. Then, one day, it snows. And everything changes.

Bryony Lavery’s plays include, at the National, the multi-award-winning Frozen, and for Connections, More Light, Illyria, Discontented Winter: House Remix and Red Sky. Other work includes Stockholm (with Frantic Assembly), A Wedding Story, Last Easter, Her Aching Heart, Two Marias and Smoke. Adaptations for stage and radio include Behind the Scenes at the Museum, The Magic Toyshop, Wuthering Heights, A High Wind In Jamaica and Lady Audley’s Secret.

In collaboration with a wide variety of artists, Frantic Assembly’s Artistic Directors – Scott Graham and Steven Hoggett – create new work that places equal emphasis on movement, design, music and text. The search for identity pulses through New Connections 2008: for acceptance and survival in modern Britain, for racial equality in 1960s South Africa, by deception in magical allotments, during white-out in a snow blizzard, through parenting, through faith, or by comic mistakes of social networking.

It Snows finished on: 8 July 2008
